DOUGLAS W. COX, Esq.

Douglas received a B.A Degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Public Administration from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1985. He was admitted to the Indiana Bar in October 1988 after receiving his Juris Doctorate Degree from Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana. Doug was an Administrative Law Judge with the Indiana Department of Revenue between 1989 and 1997. He was primarily responsible for conducting administrative hearings on tax disputes involving corporate income, sales and other state taxes. Doug has been an attorney in the Legal Services Department of Renaissance, Inc. since 1997. His primary responsibility is to assist attorneys and financial planners in planning and implementing charitable remainder trusts and other charitable gift tools.

CATHERINE M. BENTZ, Esq.

Catherine received a BA degree, magna cum laude, in English from Ohio University in 1980. She received her Juris Doctorate degree from Temple University School of Law in 1986, where she was an Assistant Editor of the Temple Law Review. After graduating from law school, she worked for five years in the Business and Estate Planning Department of a large Philadelphia law firm, Hoyle, Morris & Kerr. When her family moved to Pittsburgh for her husband’s job, she worked as an in-house attorney for Mellon Bank, advising the Middle Market and Private Banking Departments. Cathy came to the Lake Norman, North Carolina, area at the end of 1994 and her practice, in Cornelius, North Carolina, focuses solely on estate planning and business law. Cathy was a member of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 2001- 2007, served as its Vice Chairman of Membership in 2004, and won its Starrette Service Award in 2007. Cathy is also a member of the North Mecklenburg Rotary Club, served as its Secretary 2001-2002, and is currently its President-Elect. Cathy has been on the Visit Lake Norman Board of Directors since 2007 and is its Assistant Treasurer. Cathy was on the United Way of the Mooresville/Lake Norman area Community Investment Council from 2005 – 2008. Finally, Cathy currently serves on the Advisory Board of Community One Bank and Wachovia Bank’s Lake Norman Advisory Board. Most importantly, Cathy has been married to Al Bentz since 1986 and has two daughters in college at Appalachian State University.

RANDOLPH C. ROMEO, Esq.

Randolph received his B.B.A. Degree in Business Management from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, in 1971. In 1976 he was awarded his Juris Doctor Degree from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, in 1976, and was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1976. Randy has been in private practice in Hendersonville, North Carolina, since 1976, focusing on estate planning, real estate law, and business law.

Randy has been married to Ann Romeo since 1975, has two wonderful children, Candace and Chris, and one adorable grandchild, Witt. Chris is following in his father’s footsteps, as he is currently in law school at Cumberland School of Law.
